Common questions
Do I need a tech background to start?
No. The most important skills at the start are curiosity and consistency — not prior IT experience. Many TeeSec learners come from completely unrelated fields.
How long does it take to get a cybersecurity job?
Most dedicated beginners land their first role within 6–18 months. It depends on study consistency, networking effort, and the specific role you're targeting.
Is Security+ really the best first certification?
For most people, yes. It's vendor-neutral, widely recognized, and DoD 8570 compliant — which unlocks government contractor roles. CompTIA A+ is a good pre-step if you have zero IT background.
Do I need a degree?
Not anymore. Many employers value certifications and demonstrated skills over a 4-year degree in cybersecurity. A degree helps, but it's not a hard requirement for most entry-level roles.
